Stay up on your game!
There are many reasons that we sometimes stray from the paths we have set for ourselves. Life comes with many distractions and set backs but how do we get past all these obstacles and still stay up on our game? Do we separate ourselves from everyone else? Do we limit the amount of fun we have? Do we just drown ourselves in our own world and turn a blind eye to everything else that's going on around us?
We've been told by our elders,by the stories of history and the people we admire/aspire to be, that 'sacrifice' is the main key to gaining any goals and aspirations. Do we truly understand this concept, is that all it takes? Sometimes it's more than just the social aspects of life that get in our way, sometimes it's the unavoidable tribulations....money issues, health issues, rejection issues. How do we keep a brave face in the midst of all these storms of life? How do we strive to make our dreams a reality when everything we try seems to fail us?
I am no example of some great success, but I have endured a lot during the course of my journey and to this day I can admit I am still struggling. Though I must take responsibility for some of my set backs, others were through no other fault than that of my faith. So how does one continue to strive when it seems the odds are stacked against her. Well my friends my answer is, we need to learn to FIGHT! I don't mean go out there and burn down the bank for not giving you that loan but I mean never give up!
Fight for what you believe in, and the first thing you need to believe in is YOURSELF! Therefore FIGHT FOR YOU! When you feel to give up and everything inside you says it's over that's when the battle has just begun. Stop letting opinions and circumstances determine your worth and your abilities. Whatever struggle you face, you need to fight! You need to not give in to the feeling of despair and continue to walk the path that you know you were meant for. Even if you don't reach your destination at the end of it all, let your name go down in the history books for being the person that gave their best efforts to make their dream, their reality. That in itself is a story of success!

Bag of sunshine!
Bag of sunshine! by qriius-apparel featuring a yellow skirt
You know that saying.. at the end of the storms there is a rainbow and the sun will shine? Well it's actually a very true statement. I know some days feel like everything is going wrong and there is seemingly no end to our problems but once you believe there is something greater out there for you and try to keep that positive outlook, it will get better.
I am no 'bag of sunshine' but I do believe that once we stay focused on where we want to go in our lives and trust in our faith (whatever religion you are) there will come a time when things will begin to go the way we want them to go. You have to believe in yourself and something greater than yourself. You have to be willing to put in that hard word and sacrifice. We all want the finer things in life but do we really deserve it if we didn't take the necessary steps to get there?
Life is a challenge and we all have some obstacle that we must face to get to our own individual greatness. The biggest challenge is keeping a positive outlook through all the bullshit (yes I cursed). It maybe storming in our lives now but there will be a rainbow at the end of it all. The best part is you will look back and recognize how strong you were. You won't only appreciate all you have gained but you will gain a greater respect for who you are.

Big Girl Decisions
Big Girl Decisions by qriius-apparel featuring strapless cocktail dresses
It's part of life to grow up...we all have to do it. So with growth comes responsibilities & those responsibilities come with major decisions. I look back on some of the things I did, said and thought as a teenager and have realized that I can no longer hide under the mask of "she can get away with it because she doesn't know better" because truth and fact is I was young and inexperienced in every sense of the word. But now there is no excuse if I decided to continue along those immature paths because now I KNOW BETTER!
I do have some things that I wish I had never done but it was all part of me growing up and it contributed to who I am now as a woman. I've learnt to appreciate the value of life, family, friendships and spirituality. This is what our existence is all about! Taking, living and learning from each moment and understanding, that while some concepts of what we may deem important in a particular aspect of our lives may not be as detrimental as we thought when we get to our future selves.

Something Sweet
Something Sweet
So I created this look while watching E! News and thinking about the girly girl. Now I'm not really very girly and I tend to stick to black and neutrals but I'm considering adding a few colors to my palette. So with that said I chose to create not only a look that's ultra-feminine but uses pastel colors. I pictured a woman who lives for fashion and it's brighter side of life.
The pink full mini skirt looks great with this shade of green. The painted bag gives the entire look even more personality and brings all the hues used into perfect harmony. This isn't only something chic but definitely something sweet!

Under the cruel sun!
Under the cruel sun!
Here in the Caribbean island of Trinidad & Tobago every day is a sunny day. We don't have summer but we sure do have some scorching days under what some may sometimes refer to as the cruel sun! Although the heat may have it's way with us it doesn't render our style under hostage.
I created this look with the thought of the Carnival season and for some reason I had the idea of the many tourist we have in the country. I visualized a woman that wanted to go shopping through our capital city. She is of a cheerful spirit and is enthusiastic about seeing the streets of this Caribbean haven. She is of course here on vacation and wanted to pick up a few memorabilia's for her friends and family back at home. She is aware that there is only one major obstacle she must face and it is the sun!
Floral shorts are chic and easy to move around in especially when paired with a loose fitting chiffon top. Neutral toned accessories give the outfit a great balance of boho and rustic. This look is all about being able to move around freely and in comfort. The over-sized hat for protection from the sun, the gladiator sandals for comfort while walking from store to store & of course your personality that makes it all come together!

Make a move!
Make a move!
No one wants to stay one place throughout their entire lives. We all want to elevate ourselves in whatever ways we can. Sometimes we need to be the brave ones to take that step out of the usual and strive for change. We may fail or we may be successful but we will never know what we are capable of if we stay in one position.
Life is about chances, every time we leave our homes we take a chance on life, why not take a chance on yourself! You are worth it! I know that the "safe thing to do" is remain with the lifestyles we've always known but are you happy? Do you want more? Then it's time to make a move!

A night to remember!
A night to remember!
It was a night of laughs, good friends and great wine. A night that started with pure hesitation to be in attendance and ended up surprisingly delightful. This was the vision I had in my mind when putting together this look.
Picture a woman being invited to a fashionable dinner event but really in no frame of mind to go. But due to making the commitment way in advance, she has no choice but to show up with her best face on. Her plan is to make a quick entrance and exit but during the course of the evening she finds herself engaged in many conversations, mingling among the crowd and really enjoying the ambiance. She thinks to herself why didn't I want to be here? She quickly realizes that this is one of those nights that she will continue to reflect on, and those around her will never forget how elegant and graceful she appeared not only physically but in spirit.

Simple Solution
Simple Solution
Some days we don't feel to get all dressed up. We know we have many ups and downs with errands to do and understand that we have an image to be mindful of, but we just don't feel to go over board with the dressing. Honestly..some days we just want to put on clothes and go!
So what's better than a simple solution! A denim shirt dress with polka dot print is not only easy to wear but also doesn't consume much time or effort to accessorize. The use of brown & gold accessories still keep the outfit cute but subtle. Everything about this outfit is easy, and let's face it some days we just don't need all the fuss but still want to be seen as our trendy selves!

Show 'em what you made of!
Show 'em what you made of!
My love for the leopard print is now kind of my obsession. So I created a look that not only showcases the print being used in a elegant but fashionable way but also practical. I saw this mustard leopard print pencil skirt and thought how & where would one wear this? What is the statement they would want to make?
I pictured a business savvy woman walking into a lunch with a few friends & business associates: her disposition was one of confidence & sex appeal. She wanted to make a statement not only by her appearance but by her aura. She wanted to feel desired & glamorous but also respected for all her accomplishments. She wanted to 'show 'em what she was made of''! The use of color , gold accents and this vivid print brought my thoughts to life! Every woman at some point needs to feel this way especially if she is hard working and dedicated to whatever goals she sets. There is nothing wrong with one feeling proud of themselves especially when they have faced so many adversities & continued to prosper.
